Opening: Part Time Community Service Worker

The New Castle Police Department has an opening for a Community Service Worker. This is a part time position with a maximum of 18 hours a week. Hours vary throughout the week and weekend. 18.00 per hour. Applicants must have a valid NY drivers license and will be subject to a background check.

August 12, Identity Theft Arrest
The New Castle Police Department reports the arrest of Priscila Pereira for Identity Theft in the First Degree, a class D Felony and Grand Larceny Forth a class E Felony. While employed as n nanny for a Chappaqua family Ms Pereira stole the credit cards which she used to purchased more than $16,000 worth of merchandise. The purchases were made in Westchetser County, New York City and Danbury CT. Pereira was arraigned at the New Catsle Justice Court and and remanded to the Westchester County Jail on $20,000 bail.
Aug 9, Grand Larceny Arrest

On July 27 2010 a Chappaqua resident reported that jewelry had been stolen from her home. An Investigation conducted by the New Castle Police Detective Division resulted in the arrest Patrick Mazzullo. Muzzullo had been boarding at the residence. He was charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class D Felony. Muzzullo was arrainged at the New Castle Justice Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail on $10,000 bail.

August 3, Reckless Driving Arrest

On August 3, 2010 Officer Bruno was conducting speed enforcement on Rt 133 in Millwood At about 6:16am a 2005 Acura being operated by David Reit drove by Bruno at a high rate of speed. The driver increased acceleration as he passed the patrol vehicle. The Acura crossed over the double yellow line and struck a 2002 Honda head on. Chappaqua Ambulance responded to the scene. The driver of the Honda was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital. Mr Reit was not injured in the accident. Reit was charged with several vehicle and traffic violations, reckless driving (Unclassified Misdemeanor) and with the Penal law violation, Fleeing a Police Office (A Misdemeanor). Mr Reit was issued an appearance ticket to return Town of New Castle Justice Court on September 3, 2010 at 7:30pm.

The recent reports of two coyote attacks in nearby Rye NY has raised concerns about living with Coyotes here in New Castle. Coyote attacks are rare but residents should be aware of precautions that can be taken to avoid conflicts and protect their property.
